U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found more than 220 pounds of methamphetamine and five pounds of fentanyl inside the trunk of a car Monday at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, authorities said.

The discovery was made around 8 p.m. Monday in the trunk of a 2004 Chrysler Sebring driven by a 71-year-old U.S. citizen, according to a news release.

An officer working an entry booth at the border crossing found two black bags in the trunk containing 216 packages of methamphetamine and two packages of fentanyl, according to the news release. The drugs had an estimated street value of about $767,000.

Customs officers seized the car and drugs and detained the driver, turning him over to agents from Homeland Security Investigations, according to the news release. He’s expected to face federal charges. (Click to Source)
